Re: AKC or a clone?
The question of AKC producing a classic style stiletto switchblade comes up so often, I had to go to the source. This is part of that short conversation on the subject with Angelo. AKC never made a stiletto of the classic/traditional style. When AKC started in roughly 2001, Angelo bought less than ...

Re: AKC or a clone?
As unfortunate as it is, if I were Angelo, I might just kill off the AKC brand quietly and quit making knives with acrylic scales, quality horn and wood only - I can't see China making clones with legit horn or snakewood. At this point, I don't even risk touching anything marked AKC. Damn shame it's...

Re: Quality
ah, sorry - I misread/misunderstood something there. Yeah well to be fair the $800 I referred to were knives from Walt. My joke about 3knives is probably a little harsh - I'd say out of 5 or 6 knives, I'll get one I'm not 100% happy with, but hard to justify a return. The only experience I've had th...

Re: AKC or a clone?
Has AKC even made stilettos ? I don't think I've ever come across one that wasn't a clone, in person or online. The only legit AKC products I've seen on the market are leverlocks.

Re: Quality
I always like to think of 3knives getting its name because you gotta buy 3 of something to get an example of a knife that doesn't have some sort of problem. Now that’s funny ! Not if you're the one spending $800 for the knives. Sorry, could you clarify what you meant by that statement? I've s...

Re: Quality
>Eventually Enough use/abuse will eventually wreck any switchblade, but from the maker's workbench to the buyer's doorstep is an unacceptable time frame for this to occur, hence these problems occurring before acquisition being referred to as QC problems, as opposed to flawed designs. Sure it ain't ...

Re: Quality
By it's very design, the modern stiletto safety is defective. It's a flawed design by comparison to the old style, I can agree to that 100% - but a flawed design and a safety that won't prevent the blade from deploying are different matters entirely. I'm speaking to the latter. And a safety that mo...

Re: Quality
... in my personal opinion, Frank B knives are overrated and overpriced. I have two 11" and one 13" and I do not like them. The blades and springs are thin. The handles look like blocks and do not contour with the knife. The bolster and blade on two have "play". They were purchased new. Sorry guys,...

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
Small update folks - it appears that Sharper Deals was correct. I was given a picture of this old business card by someone on Facebook today.

Re: Frank B Abalone
99% of Walt's Latamas are built by Frank, but special runs have also been done by Renzo Pascotto and I think the Sam Polk square buttons were made stateside.

Re: two piece spring question.
It's the same as the advantage presented by a two-piece bathing suit..... it's easier to get into! That was a terribly "politically incorrect" statement and I am deeply ashamed. Please don't picket my house. Thank you. Hah, that's great - I'll have to remember that one. But on a more serious note, ...

7'' BEDIMA Picklock
Greetings folks, I've been rather quiet during the pandemic - not a lot of coin to throw at knives, but I'll pick up the odd stamp that's been on my list for years if/when they come across my periphery for the right money - once in a blue moon occurrence since I don't really chase after Latamas or a...

I presume once she's fixed and back on the road, you'll indulge in many a "Hi-Ho Silver... Away!" ? Good luck with the seats

Re: Vintage "EIG" 28 cm
Thanks, guys. It may be a while before I purchase another. They can get expensive. They definitely do... I might buy 2 knives/year nowadays. Switchblades of Italy recommends instead of buying a bunch of cheaper knives you sort of like, save your money and buy one far more expensive knife that's a h...
