I think it used to be called an,"Inner City Sportsman's Pencil";at least that is what the ads called them.

Re: ROSCO
Great find! That blade is looking good after your work on it. The file names of those pictures include the term "$20". If that is what you paid, you stole it. Yes;$20 is what I paid for it. The guy I got it from says he has a bunch of old automatics at his house that he never brought into the shop ...

Re: ROSCO
I hear you John. My youngest son still lives in Massachusetts and wants to get out. I live in Michigan now. Moved out here to marry a girl I met while I was in the Navy back in the 60's. Surprisingly enough we get very little snow here but it is bitter cold in the winter. I had to take a medical ret...

ROSCO
Just picked this one up today. Spring is missing and the small leaf spring that holds the release button in the closed position is broken. Pretty full blade except for some file marks that are slowly being worked out. A couple small chips in the handles too.Looking to get a replacement spring for it.

Re: 18th century straight razor.......
Thanks for the kind words Ian;things are doing OK here pretty much. Had to sell one of my vintage wagons to finance a new roof for the house and some of the ills associated with being,"chronologically challenged" are occurring but we're trying to stay on top of it. The tool sets are mostly marked ei...

18th century straight razor.......
Picked this little gem up yesterday at a local antique shop.Stamped,"WOLF ACIER FONDU" the mark of John shepherd of Holles Croft England who was in business from 1770 to 1795. Not sure if the strop/storage case is original to the razor but it is old enough to be.Horn handles have unusual circle desi...

Re: Explain it to me, please
Thanks for the kind words Dave. Actually I'm not sure who owns the car;I was contracted by the guys who did the cosmetic restoration(203 Custom Car Works in Ypsilanti MI)to do the striping and lettering. They were contracted by a gentleman in Plymouth MI who did the mechanicals and has since passed ...

Re: Explain it to me, please
No, I think you're right on point, Rey. If you want a traditional knife repaired in the traditional way, Bill seems to have a lock on that. I have heard some complaints about how he does things, but I chalk these up to people who are excessively traditional. I have a friend who restores Pierce's an...

Re: Explain it to me, please
Interesting read Dave. I suppose I could liken it to the "Traditional" movement in the hot rod fraternity ;i.e.:those who choose to build a hot rod using nothing but original parts from the era the car was originally constructed. This may include brakes of questionable operation;bias ply tires a hal...

Non-automatic stilettos.............
Didn't see a thread about these so I thought I'd post some pictures of ones that I own. There are quite a few variations on the original stiletto and if I may I would like to catalogue them as I know them. Probably not historically accurate but here goes anyway: The first iteration is the ones that w...
