Re: New User Wants Information on H W Boker Springer
Good for you, Mickey. Now we all know something new. This time you could back it up with facts. Not true for all your posts if you want to be arrogant. I am looking for knowledge, not insults. And you still have not addressed the German only switches with a nail nick. The law did not make sense so t...

Re: New User Wants Information on H W Boker Springer
Then explain the switches that only show up for a short period from Germany makers. And I would like to see an example of an old pre-WWII with a factory nail nick if you have a photo. Never seen one myself but I am always looking for new knowledge.

Re: New User Wants Information on H W Boker Springer
You could get a idea of when it was made if you (me or anyone) can find out when German law decided that a knife with a nail nick was not a switchblade. Or that is the rumor I heard when I asked the "nail nick" question many years ago to a bunch of old-time switch collectors. I have a few examples o...

Re: 13" Lizard import
Ian, Congratulations! There are a few more that you can collect. These are the Tarry Levine’s in my collection with the exception of another 13 inch stiletto and the only auto that TL may have really made, the beautiful OTF. All the knives pictured have all NS hardware except for the brass pins and ...

Re: Books on Switchblades?
Here are a few more. http://www.switchbladeknife.info/switchblade-books.html
Look for the older ones at gun and/or knife shows or on knife auctions sites. Vinnie Federico's book was my initial guide to European switchblades.

Re: autoknife.com - Reputable site / Dealer?
There are many fakes on that site and the pricing is high. My experience is that the owner will send you insulting replies to questions about condition and authenticity. Look for another seller if possible.

Re: Smash switchblade
Ian, The great majority of my knowledge was gained from collectors/dealers/repairmen that know from experience the models and manufacturers of Europe and the world. Going to the major shows in the US has exposed me to these folks and with their help I have accumulated a collection that encompasses t...

Just a picture of some Douris Chaste automatics that were made in the 1950s and 1960s. From left to right: A Saut Ouvert with all steel hardware; a Saut Ouvert with all brass hardware; two of three known Sputniks; large Smash; small Smash; unknown name that looks like a Smash; another large Smash; a...
