Is this a decent Gravity knife ?.

Post by Saikuri »

Well, I've found another one after kindly being given the dope on Colt Sar's, and this one appears to be a genuine military issue, I'd appreciate every one's expert opinion. Thanks.

The knife is being sold as a "German Bundeswehr Para GRAVITY Knife", here's a pic.

A bunch of us have recently received these. Good solid knives that lock up tight.

They're big, heavy, and loud.

Not something you can slip into your pocket.

AIM surplus used to have 'em, but I don't see them on their site any more.

Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade.

Never handled an SAR, but I just got one of these and the quality is
excellent. The blade lockup has to be seen to be believed. These were
definitely made for hard use and with the no-tool takedown, they're
easy to clean and maintain.
Honest, Honey. I'm only going to buy one more...

I got mine today. It's NICE! Larger than I expected at about 10 1/4" open. It's also heavy and the quality is like a Mercedes; no nonsense and works very well. The lock up is really tight - hard to believe in this design. I had trouble finding this one in new condition - I don't think there are many left. Another really nice feature is that it feild strips for cleaning. I had my eye on one on eBay that got up to $86 but didn't meet the reserve - too much money at that I thought. When I looked for it in my "watched items" today it had dissapeared. Does anyone know if these are not permitted by eBay? The Best! JB

These knives really do seem to be the tops !. They are banned on Ebay, Gravity knives are basicly a switchblade.

Hope I am not doing a bad thing by linking this but they are in the "good ones" thread. There is a sweet , antique gravity here http://www.sharperdeal.net/auctiondetai ... &id=106382 for sale. For me I would have the emblem removed (specially since it is not original anyway) and have a jeweler make something nice to fit in there. Some type of badge.

The Sharper deal knife is a post-WW 2 version. I have advised the seller.
