Re: Boker Kalashnikov
I got this several years ago. The button is recessed. I can’t recall it opening in my pocket, but without a safety there’s always a chance of it opening. Whenever I use it the knife never lets me down.

John, yours looks pretty similar to the one I'm anticipating. The only differences are the blade on mine is unserrated and bead blasted instead of black.

Re: Boker Kalashnikov
I wonder if they still come in the box that is shaped like a rifle magazine? I also notice that most of the new ones I looked at seem to have D2 blade steel now. All the older ones had AUS8. AUS8 wasn't the fanciest steel but it always seemed easy to keep an edge on for me.
I don't think I have a knife with D2 but I remember it being a pain in the ass to mill, grind and work with.

Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Terry I have a few knives now with D2 blades and my up -til -now EDC is one of them - a Steel Will Tenet. I haven't yet encountered one of my blades I couldn't put a decent edge on with my diamond stone 400/1000. The two Guardsmen I recently got are also D2 blades, but haven't required any attention with the stone as of yet.
Re: Boker Kalashnikov
I would have preferred it with the bead blast finish, but when I got it I didn’t have an option. I mostly use it for gardening, cutting stalks off plants, strings to tie plants up. And to sharpen the occasion pencil. I’ve had it since ??? I paid $39.00. If I had to replace it I’d pay today’s price.
Terry, I can recall the box. I may have it somewhere.
Twobit, I think you like the knife.

A couple with the boxes. I think I have a smaller one also somewhere.
Re: Boker Kalashnikov
John, this one was not much more than yours was. It cost $44. That was the website price and I found a coupon code that got me free priority shipping and they didn't charge sales tax so that was my total cost. It did come in a box shaped like an AK mag just like in Terry's pic.

Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Aaand here it is. Very happy with it. Just as I had hoped. All business and practical. Not as much fun as a swing guard, but that's not what I bought it for. Very similar to my Tenet. Do the non-auto versions have a flipper, or a thumb stud?

Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Do you like it?
Re: Boker Kalashnikov
I do. Very much. I'll probably carry it a lot.
Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Update: the factory edge is passably sharp. Until this morning I had only tested it with my thumb. I tried it on copy paper a few minutes ago and it cut, but also tore a bit. I'll be giving it a little love on my stone here very shortly.
Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Twobit what’s not to like. I can’t recall it popping open in my pocket.
Terry I do remember the box. I have a ton of standard boxes, but I can’t find my box.

Re: Boker Kalashnikov
Probably a good thing, John. Having something that even looks like an extended magazine would probably get a visit from the ATF where you live.

These boker kalashnikovs look great users and at such a good price for a knife with decent steel . I also love that magazine case .
Yet another knife that goes on my wish I had bought one when I could list .
