what's this
can anyone tell me what this tiny pistol is?it's really small.
Re: what's this
Its .22 and opens sideways.looks old.
Re: what's this
If you could tell us of any stamps or markings would be a huge help.
This little single shot would be classified as a "Deringer" most times it is misspelled as "Derringer" (2 R's)
Deringer is actually the name of the man that designed these small, easily concealed pistols.
The name/term "Deringer" is a generic word used sometimes inaccurately to refer to a small single or "two-shot" pistol.
I can't guarantee this but perhaps one of the most copied or emulated small arms of all time.
If it is an American made pistol it could bring a pretty penny as long as it has not been cleaned by some guy in his garage.
These are highly collectable and I will stand by until Vagrant has his say. He is the local firearm expert. (Heviarti is quite astute in firearm history)
Again any info pertaining to MFG stamps and markings will make all the difference in the world for identification.
Very interesting little piece.

Re: what's this
It looks like a Keno .22 caliber Derringer by Hyde and Shattock of Springfield Mass. Made around 1870, but without any markings it is hard to identify. Vagrant my know for sure.

Re: what's this
I would jump on it also for a reasonable price. Anything that old must be worth some good money.

Re: what's this
In this case "majority rules", $50 is a deal [for almost any gun]
Re: what's this
Is it...Tomorrow....Or just the end of time?
Re: what's this
I agree. It's a .22 Deringer, pre 1890 and definitely worth the price. I'd look it over carefully to see that it's not a fake, but at that price it would make a decent drop gun if it is fake. If it's real, care for it well and only feed it the type of .22 rim fire it is chambered for, subsonic if it has an LR chamber.

Also, be careful of the spur trigger.

You even once said you preferred a Spanish made shaving razor which blew my mind.
I researched it and found it to be one of the most expensive and sought after shaving razors.
You my friend are amazing.
Please move South we need more folk such as yourself.
Re: what's this

Re: what's this
Well, here it is.there are a couple of interesting marks but no name.it dont say keno, which it most resembles, anywhere.i'v looked long at many examples online, some of which can bring over a thousand, others a hundred.have a look at the blown up pic.there's what looks like directions on which way to point it(maybe they werent so clever back then?!)and a womans head. so, basically, not much to go on.once upon a time it was shiny, certain areas have a little left.oh,the 22's have an acorn on them.not sure how old they are.
