Don't know, for sure. I would bet Spanish or Italian, though. Maybe 1970s production.

Whatever it is, it's a nice one. What are the scales on it?

It appears to be a flylock release on that knife, correct? The Italian maker Collini made one in the 70s and used a torsion spring but was cheaply made in my opinion, it could have been made by them. The knife you have there appears to be of Spanish origin though just by it's design. Pretty cool find.

Maybe this is a dumb question but isn't there a way to cross reference patent numbers?

Not a dumb question at all. In fact I made a stab at it (pun intended). It does not appear to be a US patent # and does not look like the numbering systems of other countries I was able to find. I suspect the numbers separated by the dot may only be part of the complete number(s). As it looked like a more time consuming and potentially expensive research project, I let it go at that point.

I had a Spanish Switch years ago, bought in Spain earl 70's looked pretty much like that. The handle was black plastic and it was quite a bit smaller than that, maybe 3 inch blade at most, but the same blade shape, same button...................now it's a long time ago, but if memory serves I think that it was a coil spring, although at that time I didn't know the difference.
A lot of Brits still go to spain on their vaction.
