What's the best method to polish mother of pearl? I bought a knife recently and it doesn't have the shine of my other MOP's.

Sand to 600+ grit and buff with green or white rouge. Don't get it too hot.

I read something on the internet about rubbing it with olive oil. With a soft cotton cloth.
What do you think?

I think it will make the pearl oily, but do nothing else.
Wax might help, as might Simichrome.
It all depends on the surface texture of the pearl. Ideally, it should be glass smooth.

I have found that any quality neutral shoe polish works.
And like Bill said, “ It all depends on the surface texture of the pearl. Ideally, it should be glass smooth.”
