Would anyone care to divulge their least arcane and simplest method for heat treating and tempering ATS34? I've heat treated other steels, but never any stainless. Is it forgiving stuff to work with, or do your methods have to be more controlled than with typical carbon steels?
Texas Knife offers heat treatment, and also something called cryogenic tempering or sub zero quench. Anyone here ever tried or have an opinion on either?
Does anyone reading this have other favorite steel alloys for blades or heat treatment tricks?
Do any of the stainless alloys make a good spring? I've used 1095 the most; at least it's predictable. Any suggestions appreciated.
