Refurbished kick spring

Post by El Indio »

Hello Bill
Is it possible to refurbish a kick spring? I have some older hammer brand and shur snaps with weak springs. Is it possible to restore the kick in them? Or would it be economical to replace them? Thank you for any information you can offer.

Usually, gunk in the tang area impedes the blade opening. Cleaning it out helps considerably.
The springs can be gently re-arched, but you risk breakage. You can't just pry the spring up, you have to bend it in the area it is already arched.
