Hi Bill,
I found this knife on E bay and noticed how glossy the buffalo horn scales are! They almost glow! Now I am using progressivily fineer grades of sandpaper, steel wool , and that spongy thing with sand in it ( duh...I cant recal what its called  ) I finish off with Renaissance Wax yet; I cannot obtain a shine like this in the picture attached. I appreciate any advice. Scott

You need a 1700 RPM buffer and green compound.

Thanks Bill, I only have a dremmel tool with the buffer pads at this time. Will that suffice if I use the green compound? Should I finish with that compound "after the Ren>Wax" or just use it instead? thanks.

The Dremel won't do it. You need a buffer.
You could use Simichrome on a cloth "shoeshine style." Wax afer polishing.

Dremel is way to fast  Preferably a slow buffer [1700 rpm] a 3600 rpm will work if you just "kiss it" carefully, but slower is better.
Tripoli compound will work in addition to green compound

Is that the green stuff that comes with the little dremmel bit kits from Harbor Freight?

Don't know about Harbor Freight.
Green compound is standard buffing compound for bright polishing stainless steel. It contains chromium oxide.

i have a painter friend of mine who did his road runner to a full show shine.. this thing looked stunning. the first time he drove it the particles in the air scratched the crap out of the entire car.. so something this shinned defiantly has its draw backs but its still cool for a show piece. if you would like most automotive stores sell a chrome polishing kit for motorcycles and things of that nature that comes with an assortment of pads and compounds to work your way progressively trough. you actually get alot in those cheap kits too.

i picked up a kit like this one but with liquid compounds as well for 10 bucks at the local princess auto
