16cm Modern Collection

Post by HLangston »

Here's a somewhat low quality photo of my collection of modern 16cm (my favorite size) stilettos. Though I managed to get the odd or rare (in this size) purple and orange scales, I cannot for the life of me find a 16cm stiletto with plain black plastic scales, which would make the collection complete.

If anyone has one, I'll give my left nut for it (if my wife says it's OK).

From L to R: stag, dark horn, faux ivory, white pearlex, blonde horn, faux horn, green pearlex, red pearlex, blue pearlex, purple pearlex, orange pearlex.

Now that I have a new digital camera, I'll take some photos of my 16cm picklocks and transitionals and post those.

All flatgrinds, too! Very cool, Herb. 8) Hope you find the one you're looking for and you don't have to sacrifice a testicle to get it.
Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade.

I've got three in this size, dagger, bayo and flat grind. My flat grind has a swedge. Do yours have that too? When the light is better, I'll do pix.

Ok i may be wrong, but is this the plain black plastic handled
one you're looking for? Says it's 6.25" which is technically
15.875 cm .. Only 50 bucks, no left nut removal required..

Well, technically yes, but not quite a match for the other eleven "moderns" I have. It bears closer resemblance to some of the 1960s/1970s 16cm knives I already have. Main differences between this knife and the set I'm trying to complete:
-- Steel liners instead of brass
-- Front ears steel lined instead of brass lined
-- Rear ears unlined, like some of the very early Vittorio Beltrame knives I have
-- Front scale secured with three pins instead of four, similar to one of my 16cm transitionals and one of my 16cm button open/close knives.

I'm still thinking about buying it though.

It is a very nice collection. But I think for the ideal size is 23 cm (9 "),with 4 " blade and 5 " handle.

I think ideal size for 16 cm knives is 16 cm, GENIUS!! If you're collecting 16 cm knives, how would a 23 cm knife be better for the collection? If it's in RED, maybe? In NC that would be a NO no no yes cncl maybeness.,
Steel strings and steel springs...what could be better?
