Black Beauty Stiletto

Post by switch67 »

Hi Everyone, I thought I'd show off one of my latest gems I've come across. It's an 8" non-auto stamped:"Black Beauty" italian picklock stiletto. The knife was in less than presentable shape when I recieved it,the bolsters and liners were dull and oxidized, the blade was full of minor sufrace scratches, and the very tip of the blade was gone. The horn handles were still in great condition, but were in need of a good oil bath and looked like they were salvageable.
I instantly thought of my friend Nemo,as he's done some marvelous work for me in the past.I e-mailed him with a few photos and asked if he was up to the challenge of bringing it back to presentable condition with keeping it as original as possible.
I'm proud to say it looks like a whole new knife from days gone by. A very special thanks to my friend/mangler "Nemo". :~)

Such a Beauty, I think my dad ordered something from that article that is in the background (when he was a kid of course!). All I can say is that it is a true Beauty.

Switch,
That is absolutely awesome! How the heck did you find such a rare piece of knife history? This is only the second one I've ever seen, and the only non-auto. Nemo did a beautiful job...it looks like new! The horn looks incredible.
The topic of the Black Beauty has been brought up here on the Switchblade Knives Forum. We'd appreciate anything you could tell use about it's history.
Thanks.

Switch67....Very nice! Nemo did a beautiful job on it as usual! I remember drooling over that advertisement which used to be on the back pages of comics around 1959.

Killer pix of a rare non-auto Black Beauty 8)

I like to go through these old posts, and I forgot how awesome this one was.

That horn is purdy.

Nice photos, Switch67.

Hey Steve,
Great find and Great piece of work by Chad. Is that knife a 8" or 9" or what?
Super pics and thanks for sharing. By the way, I looked at the additions of Edgecos to your collection. NICE.

Hi everyone, I've accuired another Black Beauty stiletto recently, it's a 7" model and looks to be the lil' brother of the 8" I have. This one didn't need a thing,it's in excellent unsharpened condition. The stamps are identicle.

That's amazing. It seems you've got the Black Beauty connection!
Very pretty little 7". Now all you need is the 5 & 1/2" and 13".
I think they're on sale at a place called Florida Imports. Both for $10.95 :)
