Probably A Counterfeit
I always figured this was a counterfeit but I'm not sure. Wasp body, derby bolsters, steel liners, button O/C, swedge blade. Stamped INOX. Scales look like horn. The pins are really small. It's straight and pretty tight, not a bad knife, whoever made it.

Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade.

Re: Probably A Counterfeit
Hi Jeff-No not counterfeit. Actually kind of scarce. There is quite a few posts on different ones somewhere in here and sharperdeals. My old brain is blank right now on details but they have been referred to as "derby bolster" "Pagoda" (sic) and other things.
Is it 8 incher? There are a few different sizes.

It's 8-3/4 inches (22.5 cm). I thought there had been mention that there were Japanese counterfeits of these around, but I might've imagined that.

Not counterfeit, though these were probably Japanese.

Re: Probably A Counterfeit
Counterfeit is not the right word. It's not one of the Italian vintage bo/cs but it is still a great knife. That double sear rocker is definitely the way to make a bo/c.

The three swallow wings on the left do have some differences than the standard bobc’s but they don’t seem Japanese ... maybe just a later time and shop ?

Re: Probably A Counterfeit
The "pre Rizzuto" knives didn't "seem" to be Japanese-until we found one so marked.
My bet (and it's a pretty educated bet) is they are Japanese.

Re: Probably A Counterfeit
Very possibly. That is a tourist knife that was sold in Venice.
These have all the traits of the folding guard knives I mentioned earlier- stainless liners, blades marked INOX, quality construction, usually black plastic handles, and nickel silver bolsters.

Re: Probably A Counterfeit
I've owned a few of these, made differently then the 60's bc/bc but I'll say they are 100% Italian. Just made a few years later and a little different. They are cool knives. Tons of them showed up as NOS from Italy.
I've also owned a few of the early rem swinguards with the center lockback. Amazing knives but way different traits then these and always classed those as Japanese.
