25" FLATGUARD PICKLOCK BY RENZO PASCOTTO 1 OF 3 MADE

Post by METALGOD »

1 of 3 made this is #2 , this is a completely hand made knife , every piece was hand made :D 25 inches open and 13-1/2" closed, made with hand made solid nickel/silver bolsters , nickel/silver button and safety, gabon ebony wood handles , polished stainless steel bayonet blade that is razor sharp ,brass liners and brass pins, slip in type spring/backspring straight and tight . this is truly a piece of art usually these big guys are un-sharp but sum reason this one is like a razor.

it is a beautiful knife and looks very well made but like all the other big ones, it looks wide, flat, thin and has an elongated blade where the point is like a spear point. it does not have the look of a true stiletto. don't that me wrong it is a very nice piece just not a true stiletto. how thick is the back spring and blade?

bernie please forgive me if i offended you in any way. that was not my intent. renzo is a true artist. the knife is a work of art and beautiful. i guess i made my point poorly, in other words, i was simply observing that the big knives like this, as a rule with very few exceptions, are not as sleet as the smaller ones. i would be proud to own this knife.

appologeticably and respectfully, dave

That's a biggun Bernie. So how thick is the blade ?how thick are the liners? How thick are the bolsters? how wide is it across the button? does it have the locktab riveted to the backspring ?
These are things I believe many of us like to know ,even if I'm wrong about that I KNOW I do.
how much does one cost?

pat it is 25 inches open, 13-1/2inches closed.
never measured so dont know other dimensions ..
locktab is NOT riveted to backspring, it is slip in type spring / backspring as posted in original post.
cost ? funny i just asked you same Q about the 22-1/4 incher you made. (what does one of your super large customs cost).
Thanks Bernie ** Folgore Knives USA **

Well, Bernie in the length of time it took you to reply you could have measured the knife twice. Do you have a rule or tape measure?

Thanks Bernie, now I know what I'm looking at.
This one is a lot sleeker than the one I have in for repair. And it has thicker liners and bolsters.
It's a good looking piece>
Here are a couple of pics of the one I'm going to repair.

Yep the 22-1/4 is the largest to date. It's an 11" stiletto at 200% . 5/16" (8mm) steel :-)

bernie, thank you for sharing more about the measurements on your giant knife. that was what i initially ask you for. you seem to be very knowledgeable on the big stilettos and i would like to learn more. i noticed that you state the thickness of the blade and back spring at 4mm. why so thin? i have seen some other modern italians offered that are 11'' and 9'' in length with 5mm steel. why is this that the 25'' knife has just 4mm steel? please don't take me wrong as i do not mean this as an insult to your knife. i am simply trying to understand this knife. if you hold your 25''er straight up and fire it will it deploy all the way? or do you have to point it downward for it to lock up. please help me understand the logic of this knife.

thanks, dave
