My First Shur-Snap Colonial

Hello Everyone,
Shur-Snap Colonial BO/BC 7.25", 4" Handle with Faux Ivory scales, 3.25" Stainless Steel Blade, Bolsters, Button, Safety and Bolster Pins, Blade has some all around movement, Sits deep in channel and off to one side, Brass Liners both liners have the rectangle punched out under the button, Tang Stamp is in good shape Shur-Snap over Colonial over U.S.A. Still Fires Hard and Kind of Fast.

Question for you experts before the sear hole was made a word or something was stamped on the tang all that is visible now is half a letter could be the letter O followed by V. followed by U.S.A. See the close up of the tang stamp. What was stamped on the tang before the sear holes were made?

John my guess would be PROV (Providence,Rhode Island) Pretty sure the old Colonial knives were made there.

It's in fairly good shape, but it wasn't when I got it. The button was so loose that it fell out. I sent to Bill's the doctor who put it back together for me.

awesome John , i to started with italian switchblades then got into german then ventured into american they are some very cool knives for sure , no where near quality of italian switches but cool and very collectible, i have 2 like yours one with orange scales and one with black jigged bone(imitation) , 1 flylock leter-opener, 1 schrade double blade black jigged bone, , 1 mini imperial keychain, a few others . i can see you got bit by bug now you will have to get some american switchblades for your collection .

Hi Bernie,
I'm venturing out. I have been looking at the Americans for awhile now and there are a few models I'd like to add to my very small collection. A double button is on my list after that who knows. Something will catch my eye. I've been bit and I got the bug bites to prove it; I just hope my knife don't get bit .

Hello Lars,
This knife did need a little help mechanically, but its physical appearance was good, so I went for it. Adding the cost of the knife and its repair equaled the cost of a normally functioning knife.

Prov stands for Providence usa both Colonial and Imperial were made in downtown providence

Yes, yes they were. I have a couple and drive by where they were made those years ago. I miss them!
