Question about ShellPuller Knife

Post by Switch King »

Can somebody say me what a vintage Leverlock shell puller from Hubertus costs?
I would also know with pleasure whether an on-line shop gives, the Leverlock shellpuller with a standard blade sold

Hi john,
I would like to have a ShellPuller for my collection.
It should not be a Vintage. The blade should not exceed 8.5 cm (3-3/8 "). Grabbed the horn should be Hirschhorn opder Dark.
And it should have a narrow drop point blade. Because of the vintage, I just wanted to know why something like what does today, for me a reference point.
It should be as look something like the picture below.

The picture is of orangeboy. I hope it is ok that I show it hir.

There have been several of those on the Sharper Deals auction site in the last few weeks. If you have checked that site out, here is a link:
http://www.sharperdeals.net/index.php
I'm not sure what a good price would be but you should be able to get one for a pretty reasonable price. I you keep an eye on how they sell you will get an idea of what they should cost. As always, with auction sites you just need to be patient and keep an eye on things and you'll find the right deal.

About a week ago, there were too fixer-uppers that went for between $25-$35. Keep in mind they both needed some work.

It's a great knife, and not to hard to find. However, you might have trouble getting something shipped to your part of the world.

Hi Jim Brown 257,

Yes I know the page (Sharperdeals), am a member there and have already bought a couple of knives there. I've seen a vintage Shellpuller, but it was in bad state and the other had a broad blade.
The knife should be in a normal state, and have a blade as in the picture. But as you said, purely to see again and again. At some point I'll have one.
I am from Germany, and I have some Switchblade Knife's bought in the U.S. and there were never any problems.
It has only the blade size (8.5 cm - 3-3/8 ") agree.

PS: excuse my bad English
I hope you understand me.

You're in Germany? This might be your lucky day. I found these two on the Knife Shop:

http://www.knifeshop.com/shop/USER_ARTI ... 5bba08c89f

http://www.knifeshop.com/shop/USER_ARTI ... 0#Ziel2010

Of course, they don't have standard blades; is that something you had to have? I think these drop point blades look much better than the standard blade.

The Knife Shop has some cool stuff at great prices (and it's on the "Good Ones" list; that means they can be trusted). The only problem is they are in Europe so the minimum shipping is $34 (maybe it's $37). They probably have more shell pullers; you should look around their site some more.

His first post says standard but the second says drop point but shows a picture of a standard blade so I wasn't sure what he meant.

Also, I meant to say the two pullers I linked to had "clip point" blades, not drop point blades.

Switch King,

My guess is this is what you are looking for.

http://www.talkblade.info/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19547

It is a vintage Hubertus shellpuller. These aren't easy to find but they aren't extremely rare either.

Hi Jim Brown,
I know KnifeShop. I am there client. I have a shellpuller of them
But they are not so good, they are made of inferior materials.
Still useable thanks for the tip. :) :)

Because of the narrow drop point blade, I thought the top of the image a narrow drop point blade would be? I also thought that a drop-point blade is a standard blade? Can you enlighten me.
With the word "normal" was my fault excuse. :?

Jim D,
Yes, just as a knife I want. :o :o
Hubertus has similar back in range.
I have a few weeks ago, saw similar ShellPuller on the website of PVK COM. They were from AGA Campolin. The price was ok, I think they cost $ 89.

No, I think the confusion about the blade-type name might have been my fault. Since I have been looking at these things, I have seen that normal-looking blade refered to as a "drop point" blade. I always thought a "drop point" blade was one that had a wider section that slopes down to a thinner one near the edge, like we see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_point

I've also seen that kind of blade, the kind in the OP, described as a "pen knife blade".

Whatever the case, I will keep my eye out for one of those pullers with that type of blade.
