I've replaced guards on a Rizzuto before, best to use a small, ball-end of a ball peen hammer and an anvil or vise for the base... light taps and you'll be fine, you'd really have to try if you wanted to make them too tight to be non-functional. Good luck :D

Hi sicboy13,
I'm going to give it a try. I do have the tools, so that's not an issue. I'll let you know how it turn out.
Thanks for the advice,
John

I like the look of them, it's just that every movie, video or show I've seen them in the guards noticably "scissor".
It Doesn't seem to happen to the Japanese versions as often but they all have their own issues usually.
How right you are Jeff! "Stand By Me" comes to mind, especially when Kiefer Sutherland points it at the kid- the guards definitely look like a scissor :D

I agree. I wish they would restock with the longer (10 incher) ones.

I'm with you on that I'd grab a 10" incher too. I'd like to get one from Japan too.

Me too, but I doubt it'll happen. The smaller ones are fun and they'll be around again, but those 10.5 inchers are supposed to be really nice (for a clone that is) and they seem to be only getting harder to find. Who would've ever thought it would be harder to find a Rizzuto clone than to find a real Rizzuto

Tommy Lee throws it in to a table in girls girls girls......
John, unless they really bother you, you might want to leave the guards as they are. Theres nothing wrong with a little scissoring to the guards of a swinger, it just seems to be part of the whole design.

Hi Jeff,
I took a 2 oz hammer to it and bang away being very careful not to damage any part of the knife. After a hundred blows or more it still scissors. The pin is way too long. I'm leaving it as is. I know if I try again I''l dent the bolster or mess it up some how because that's how my luck runs. You're right they're made to scissor. It's meant to be  .

I remember I had 2 of these clones from the BA days... I think I paid $10 a piece for them... I destroyed them both... somehow...i took the guards off to repair one knife, I think the sear pin broke on the other... still, fun little knives.... they are fun for flick therapy...

It looks too small to be a 10 1/2. Check the blade.
