Bier Spadon question

Post by Straydog 5247 »

While working on a project , I noticed the words "Bier Spadon" on the button assembly , it's one of those molded buttons , not SS , looks like pot metal .
I couldn't find a company named "Bier Spadon" , but I did find out the Germanic meaning for Bier ( beer ) & Spadon ( tool for digging ) , I can't figure out how this would have anything to do with Italian swithblade buttons , anybody out here know ? ....I'm stumped

Sound interesting. Another meaning for "bier" is- A bier is a stand on which a corpse, coffin, or casket containing a corpse, is placed to lie in state or to be carried to the grave.

This could possibly have something to do with the digging tool.
Spaten and/or Spadon means spade(digging tool)
I know this is of little help but could the knife be German made?

One of favorite German beers-

I think that it might be Italian. Remember reading of the Spadon company from Maniago.

maybe a "Beer Shovel" should be read "Bottle Opener"?

Back in the early 80's I worked for a small printing company for a few months and they had a very old Heidelberg printer made in Germany.
On the main control panel there was a very ornate holder that held a fancy bottle opener.
At first I thought it had been added later but both were stamped "Heidelberg" so even the guy printing a newspaper needs a beer now and then.

Every time I sit down to watch the news it makes me want a beer... imagine watching it come off the presses!

Possibly the company that supplied the metal for the knife?
I know it's not likely but it's a guess.
This is the magic incantation congress uses to constantly violate the 10th Amendment - "...the manufacture, sale, transportation, distribution, possession, or introduction into interstate commerce of such shall be prohibited"
