It may be a case of standardization... I think the same knife is manufactured as a non-auto lock-back.... but I'm only guessing... one of our gurus is sure to know for definite.

Best wishes

I know the first run or two of these had the nail nick. The newer runs, which are supposed to be much higher quality, do not have the nicks. Perhaps they have some older stock or old pics.

The nail nick lets you open one if the spring breaks.

Vagrant,

Actually if (when?) a spring breaks on one of mine, I'll probably try to sent it to the Vagrant Repair Shop :D

I just got a couple of AKC 9" Italian Stiletto "Kits". The Blade also has Nail Nicks. Pretty solid kit for the money. Its only the spring you install though.
