Frank B picklocks

Post by PlatonicSolid »

Anybody get hold of any of the 2020 Frank B picklocks? I’ve seen pics of 11” and 9” with red dot safety. I didn’t know he was producing these anymore. I’m wondering about the quality compared to the older runs.

This is the very first I’ve heard. Where have they been seen?

Are they limited editions?

I saw this on his Instagram a few weeks ago. Not serialized I don’t think, but I emailed Sarah and she told me they were a very small run and sold out already. None will be made next year either..

I follow that guy on IG myself. I really highly doubt that’s Frank Beltrame’s IG. That guy posts all kinds of Asian stuff on there too. You may have seen my comment there, asking if they were really Frank B picklocks. But, I now see that oval sear pin hole all the way through the tang. So, I guess they are (?).

Yes, after I saw the recent post here showing the hole I emailed Sara to inquire directly. Her response was that “We only made a few this summer. All gone. Nothing available and we do not think we will do more for 2021”

Were the bolsters N/S or stainless?

They look stainless don’t they.. maybe it’s some kind of new fangled phone camera filter effect. All the color looks a bit washed out. I saw the same pic posted on the official fb website so I think they’re legit. Hard to believe he’d make a picklock with stainless bolsters though.. I’d think there would be a red dot safety as well.

Also do they have 3.5 or 5mm blade? How much were they? Wonder why Frank B. Doesn’t make N/S bolsters any more? Some kind of deal with Walt?

Just in from Maniago. Nice matching horn, full brass lined, N/S bolsters and hardware, flat button and safety, ~4mm spring/blade.. Simply stamped Frank B over Italy. All tight and centered, kicks like mule and locks up solid and straight. It’s a very nice quality picklock for a very nice price. Better build in my opinion than the 11” AGAs from 2017 but certainly not comparable to a Walts model, nor as expensive!
