I know what he means Jerr. Those knives are dual action, and the blade can be open while the spring is still cocked. If you fire the mechanism while the blade has already been opened manually, it still releases the spring.

I had a G-Force several yrs. ago and whilst opened manually I accidently hit the scale release and the spring came flying out of the well. You do get what you pay for. That being said, when I started collecting seriously I bought anything that popped out with a spring, and have many pieces of shite, as well as some suprisingly decent knives. But that was long ago and I have now focused my collecting to older more collectable knives. Jim

it can be quite bad for the knife. But, mine survived it.

Anyone have an opinion on a mid level scale release?
Re: Stay away from cheap scale release knives.
I have a Vallotton & Diskin D/A that has a 3"blade and zytel handles. The blade is made of AUS10 steel which is the first time I ever heard of it. Blade HQ has them for sale now for $99.00. Boker Plus has made the same knife with an AUS8 steel blade and their name on it and I have seen it going for $94.00 at the link below. The original which I own is very well made and dependable. I can't speak for the Boker made knife. They are as middle of the road as I think you can get and feel safe using them.wild zebra wrote:Anyone have an opinion on a mid level scale release?

Been ages since I bought a "new" knife, but I have been thinking of trying out one of these new Matt Diskin Volcan Amsterdan knives for a new EDC...$81 bucks.
