Re: Movie Switch's

Post by heviarti »

I woke up at 4:30 and remembered there was one in an episode of Winter Steele (short that used to run on Liquid TV) don't recall which episode, but there aren't more than 12, and each is less than five min.. If I remember right, a live action hand opens a switch (black scaled italian style 11' I think) and then it switches back to the puppets, where a prop is used. The prop was either a keychain or a homemade with tinfoil and cardboard. I haven't seen it since 1993, so my memory is not 100% clear.
I walked a mile in my enemy's shoes.... And then I stole his shoes.

I just noticed, all those movies and nothing from the 40's? There's got to be at least one movie from the 40's that has a switchblade in it, right?

Edit:

I tallied up a little more info. Of the ones we've done so far the most prevalent kind of knife is by far the regular Italian-style of stiletto. Here are the top three...

82 movies/shows have a basic Italian-style stiletto (non-swinguard) in them
42 movies/shows have Rizzutos or Rizzuto clones (17 of which are actual Rizzutos)
24 movies/shows have NATO/Super Automatic Dual Action otfs

The rest are all different kinds or unidentified switches.

Thanks Jarvis for suggesting this one. I can't tell, but he says it's a Mikov and I trust his judgement. I'm not too familiar with them myself. It's the first Mikov we've seen in a movie I think. Casino Royale...

Wow  When you put then all together like that it really does make quite an impressive list :!:

BTB, I'm sure I'm not alone when I thank you for your efforts - truly great job! My hat's off to you.

Have we spoken about TV shows or series made for TV? Is it worth running a parralel thread for the TV equivelent, or should we just incorporate them into this thread? I'm sure there are MANY that we could start naming...

Cheers,

Larry

I watched one today called Lost Angels....1989 movie. It did have a couple of quick shots of what appeared to be stag(?) leverlocks. Just quick glimpses of open knives, so probably not worth searching for.

Ok, not a movie...well, may be from a movie... a guy on another forum years ago had an avatar that was a picture of a 1970's looking pimp in a pimp suit, a black gentleman, holding a what looked like a huge Rizzy open up to a stuffed bunny or bear? I know it's a long shot, but if anyone can dig it up, its you, B!

That is indeed a Mikov. I think Dave (our Mikov connection here) identified it as a Jaguar. Here is a picture from his site:

However, the top bolster on the Jag is different than the one in the movie. I suspect it is a regular Mikov with a Damascus blade.
