Heard it's pretty decent, anyone have one yet to give us a review?

Johnny,
The action on these is very comparable to the Scarab. nice, hard to push release prevents it from going off in your pocket . Pretty sturdy clone. Made in Taiwan so its a step up from the Chinese stuff. Well worth $30 maybe $40. Any more and I wouldn't pay it. BR28

I just saw one. Nice looking blade on that one. Since I'm a sucker for a cheap otf, I think I'll have to break my no-knife buying period.
Besides BA, anyone seen them anywhere else for sale?

It might be worth emailing STU ... his off-auction prices are usually better than buying through BA.

Best wishes

i got an email from stu this weekend and he had some for sale off auction, seemed like they were a little cheaper than auction starting prices. if you have dealt with stu before it might be worth sending him an email about them.

Scarab Clone

Post by BladeLover »

Got one coming from Stu this week. They look pretty sturdy for a clone.
I'll give a product report when she arrives.

Got my LIGHTNING from Stu this past weekend. Very sturdy for a clone...pretty solid lockup and very fast. I like it's compact profile and blade shape. I recommend to the OTF lover who doesn't want to pay 300-400 for a Microtech or who wants a lower price user. They seem very functional too, unlike some of my other OTF clones like that POS Halo III

I bought a S&W 1600 recently. Out of curiosity I ordered a clone just to compare. Several differences were quite apparent — machined alloy vs. stamped metal, better blade, postive lock up vs. almost no lockup at all, a safety that actually lines up and works well vs. one that doesn't — but blade play was not one of them. They both wobbled about the same. Of course, I understand that mileage may vary.

Just got mine today. IMO, materials / construction are MUCH BETTER than my old Edge Co. NATO...... much better than a Tomb Raider..... Not anything I'd carry to really use.... BUT
.... It is my new $25 favorite fun-time letter opener :D / neighbor scarer.
