~NEW~ Square Button Stiletto!!!

Post by komodo »

I saw this at my knife club last night and thought you guys would appreciate the pic.

It's a brand new square button, custom made by a well known Italian maker. I've been lucky enough to handle original SB's as well as several different SB "copies". This knife has them ALL beat, hands down! Fit, finish, horn, action, are all perfect.

I asked the owner how much it cost, expecting to hear it cost a small fortune. When he told me how much, or I should say, how LITTLE it cost, I was shocked! It's not cheap, but a HECK of a lot less than you'd think compared to what other SB's go for.

(I can't give you all the details out of respect for the owner's privacy.)

Definitely screams custom . Notice the flat guards . Pat Havlin has made a few square buttons with flat guards also. I think I see the cat on one the others and Renzo Pascotto stamp on another.Perhaps Renzo made the square button also ?

Interesting.
While the square button design is unique, it is not the most durable mechanism.

It might be possible that someone tried to clone the Sam Polk knife that Walt sells. Similar mechanism, similarly styled blade catch. The blade looks like a Renzo blade to me.

The Sam Polk tribute is made by Paul Panak (aka Burn). A few years ago, I had him make me this 11" piece with a Kris blade. A lot of members here have seen this but newer members haven't, and since we are talking about square buttons......

The SB isn't one of Pat Havlin's, Burn's, or Walt's. Nothing wrong with any of thoses guys, they all have great knives. but this one in perticular is 100% "Italian" made.

Not having an ORIGINAL to compare it to at the time, I don't know if this "new" one is using the same mechanism. From what I saw, the "new" one appears to be just as durable as any of the newer "high end" stilettos. I grant you, that ALL stilletos do not have the most durable of design, but within that group, this one seems to be better made than most. Even if it wasn't, the "coolness factor" would make this a winner!

The mechanism is the same. You're correct-it is probably as durable as any of the new knives.
I'm suprised it hasn't been done sooner.

The SB you showed in your 1st post about this topic is a Pat Havlin SB.
Maybe you saw a different one there too? Click that link I provided,
it's the knife that is currently up on auction, not an Italian made knife.
