Need help dating a Raimondo picklock

Post by RayB »

This forum is great, I am new here. I need help dating a 9" picklock I recently purchased. The blade is stamped RAIMONDO over FROSOLONE and the tang is stamped SPRING over ROSTFREI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not one of the super-educated on the subject, but I found this small paragraph from the Switchblades of Italy book on knives with that stamp. Says they were made before the 1940's...

Some were made in the 1940s. The ones that look like modern stilettos are 1950s knives. Need to see a picture.

Sorry for the lousy pics. I cannot get the blade or tang stamp in focus.

I read somewhere that some of the Raimondo stamped knives had plastic scales, would this be one of them? Also, can you please post a pic that shows the shape of the lock tab?

Edit: Here is another link to an excerpt from the Switchblades of Italy book that gives a little more info on this type of knife...

Not sure, I don't think the handles are celluloid, I have 6 books to read on switchblades. Here is a better pic of the stamp and one of the lock tab.

I bought the book and have not started it yet.
