New ProTech TR-2 drop point

Post by horizonod »

The ProTech TR-3 is one of my favorite no nonsense, dependable, high quality EDC autos and is, imho, one of the more overlooked. ProTech also makes a TR-2 in various blade and handle configurations. I really like the TR-2 as well because it's everything the TR-3 is and less.

4.5 inches closed, 7.80 inches overall with a 154 CM blade just a hair over 3 inches long. It's barely an inch wide at the widest part of the handle, is tip up carry and has ProTechs famous hot spring. The blade being a bit smaller that the TR-3 really gives this TR-2 a lightning fast action. Perfect in the pocket!

The Tr-1 comes in Tanto, chisel ground tanto and the TR-2 is a drop point. Both share a similar handle configuration.

I don't know why ProTech mkes so few of these.

8) I like the drop point blade. now if they would only make liners out of brass or nickle silver
and put real scales on them . Just a personal thing , I don't like aluminum knives.

I kind of like that TR-2. Glad they are making a little smaller version.

I believe the coils in those guys are 'square' ie before it's coiled, it's flattened (like a slinky). Apparentyl makes it thinner and more springy. Something Dave's introducing on these knives. Er is that what you meant by a hot spring? I've played with them and you guys are right, they'd make an ideal EDC.

I'm a big fan of ProTech's stuff. Always well built, solid and dependable. That's a great size and blade configuration for an EDC.

I too am a fan of PT. They are a real quality manufacturer. Got a GF satin with maple burl and a TR-3 user. Nothing shabby about them. Those TR-2's look like the right size.
