Re: Nut and Bolt Assembly

Italian stilettos are made with the "old world" technology they have used for years. I guess they feel if it ain't broke, why fix it. Whether switching to mechanical fasterners would improve the knives or not is open for debate. Personally I think that mechanical fasteners would be an improvement th...

Re: Cupid Extractor 1600 help?

The "Cupid" and the "Extractor" are two completely different knives. The Cupid was done by Rob Dalton and was even in it's day an expensive but top quility piece, now even more so. The Extractor was made by Smith and Wesson and was also a SA OTF but was a cheap piece of crap. Both knives have been e...

Re: repair HELP

It would help immensely to know just which knife design you are working with and a picture wouldn't hurt. I too am confussed about cutting the spring and stretching it to make it more powerful. Sounds like maybe you got some bad advice. Stretching the existing spring can add pop until the spring rec...

Re: Classic vs. Walt's Classic

No contest. Compared to a 5mm Walts the standard Italian stilettos, Frank B or any other maker of the "standard fare", are glorified letter openers.

Re: 13" or 11" stiletto?

It is a personal preference but, imho, the 13's have distint disadvantages without much added benefit. With any stiletto, all things being equal, the longer the blade the slower the action. 13 inchers can be pretty slow. Secondly the extra blade length is the only real advantage and the blade of a 1...

Re: Buck 110 D/A Conversion

Not a plug but the ones we have now are the best I've EVER seen. They are a little pricyer than the ones we used to get but they are very well done. They are single action but I never saw the sense in having a double action auto with a big honkin button on the side.

Re: new knives

 Mmmmmm. I can smell the Chianti in the water coolers when I open the boxes. With luck and hard work, the 2012 models should come out sometime around the middle of 2015. Seriously though, they make stuff when they get orders and not on much of a set schedule. Best to just keep ...

Re: Buck 110 D/A Conversion

Buck 110 conversions have always been a mixed bag even if converted by the same concern. It's sounds feasable that the blade would have to have some play in it for the knife to opperate but the fact is that that's pretty much just a convenient put off. A well done conversion will have little to no p...

Re: Fairbairn-Sykes

I stumbled upon a bunch of S-F stilettos on Ebay yesterday. I'd love to have an original but there are so many talented thieves making and selling knives these days I'm leary to pull the trigger on anything. The original S-F stiletto is highly prized and a high profile target for the fooking forgers...

You mean switch models like these? http://www.myswitchblade.com/11_Italian_Stiletto_Switchblades_s/1.htm The imitation mother of pearl model looks exactly like what I bought from the AZ store. It's also what I want, provided it works properly. I was even considering this-- http://www.myswitchblade....

Vintage Campolin Stag shell puller multi blade knife

This is an AGA campolin stag shell puller supposedly from the 70's or 80s. I got this as a late birthday present and I must say,........it is very cool. Something about these older knives kind of speaks to a guy. Especially a knife kind a guy. I can see this compact little tool kit coming in very ha...

Re: Piranha Knife co. Experience (2nd)

Piranha showed great promise when they started up but they seem to be steadily slipping. Shipping an automatic knife through the US Postal Service is frowned upon by federal authorities. Paying more to send it legally through a "common carrier" is, imho, much better than worrying about being that gu...

Re: New full size SA/OTF from ProTech

We ordered 5 of the proto SS Dark Angels, among other things, beginning of last week. We thought we would get them Thursday or Friday. There must have been a mixup somewhere. I'll see about a video when they arrive.
