Viva la France!

Thanks all. I found out after I bought it that the seller had rescued the knife out of a box that had been sent to a recycling plant!!!!! It was inches away from being melted and lost forever!!!!! I must admit I had a mixture of emotions when he told me that.... from a sick feeling in ...

Viva la France!

It would be more of a dilemma to decide about the restoration if the front handle wasn't missing and the top bolsters loose, though some might still leave it alone, I think a restoration is the best choice. I do have a KORN that is a basket case (pictured in my book) which I have left "as found" for...

Viva la France!

As many of you know I am firmly encamped on the Antique American side, but every once in awhile I spot something from across the waves that I just can't pass up! In truth, most of those "eye catchers" eventually end up in other collections in order to add more antique American autos to my own collec...

Winchester Warning

It is definitely bogus though it certainly looks convincing. If Winchester were to dabble in switchblades I'm sure they would have sought out a higher quality knife than an Edgemaster to put their name on.

Winchester Warning

Just wanted to let forum members know that there is a fake Winchester switchblade listed on ebay. It is obviously an Edgemaster fishtail which someone has cleverly restamped. I must say the tang stamp looks believable if you didn't know better. This is not the first time that I've seen a fake Winche...

Of course it's worth something and how much depends upon condition. As far as the affect of the initials.... it won't affect the price much either way unless the initials are GS and you can prove it belonged to George Schrade! The 2 7/8" gold doubles are quite popular with collectors and usua...

The 2nd from left on top row is an early Rostfrei transitional 11". Beautiful horn and red dot safety. I don't know what I'm going to do with that one yet. The stag lever on the bottom row is a CASE 5161L and yes, it does bear a striking resemblance to the Henckels knives. The 5th from the right on ...

Pigeon Forge Plunder

I have to admit the thought of selling the car to buy some more knives did cross my mind, but since it was a loaner I figured it wasn't such a good idea

Pigeon Forge Plunder

I was fortunate enough to figure out a way to travel to Tennessee this last weekend to attend Parker's Knife Show in Pigeon Forge. It wasn't easy and I really had to make the money stretch in order to buy the majority of the knives that caught my eye. A car that got 30 mpg and a motel room for $21 a...

Aerials

The good news is that these knives are still of very decent quality and there is a lot of collector interest. Even though many of them were put together after 1970, they still have a place in American switchblade history and therefore will be sought after by collectors. A few years ago the going pri...

Hello everyone, For those who don't know me I am the author of Antique American Switchblades. I've been absent from the forum for some time and for that I apologize. Too darn many things going on with home and family and those just have to come first.... though I have to admit I get confused about t...

Antique American Switchblades update

I'll start with some good news: My book "Antique American Switchblades" has been completed and will soon hit the stands!! :D Now some bad news: I didn't get the advance copies that I was promised yet, even though the publisher is selling 40 copies of the book at the Blade Show in Atlanta this weeken...

Antique American Switchblades the book

Sorry for the delay in responding.... been very busy. The book will contain full color pictures of over 300 antique American switchblades. They took pictures of over 600 knives, but not enough room for all in this book. It will be softcover, but I'm pushing for a hardcover collector's edition. There...
