Most rust removers really screw with springs, plus etch metal badly. Soak the knife in WD 40 for a few days. Note:SOAK, not spray a little on it. Spray it liberally twice a day. Sit the knife in a pie plate or plastic container, and let the WD 40 run into the pan. After 3-4 days, spray the knife wit...

I think both styles are still being made. I remember seeing them on an auction site about a year ago. Can't remember what site, but there were quite a few Xythos. Always wanted a couple of those.

Place the blade tang flat on an avil, or similar hard steel surface. Place the ball end of the puch in/over the lockin...

I checked this out, and there were about 60 knives made this way-intentionally. This was to test the market and see if this look would be popular. Stu was basically right. No more will be produced with the square edges.

Don't know, for sure. I would bet Spanish or Italian, though. Maybe 1970s production.

Then the knife was likely made by Massaro, regardless of how it is marked. Retailers often have different names stamped on their knives.

The brass bolsters are a good clue. The knife is probably Italian.
Does it look like the ones in the SKM site under "Lever locks?"
The other possibility is the knife is Indian, or Pakistani. Again, pictures would help.

Cut each end 1/16'' above the surface, file flat, and peen each side, supporting the other side on the anvil.

If you are using the small nails wih a pre-formed head, it's easy- The head goes on the outside of your scales. Put the pin through and cut off all but about 1/16". File the end flat. Place the head on an anvil, vise, anthing metal and solid. Tap the cut side LIGHTLY with a SMALL hammer. A tack hamm...

You can dye them darker, or bleach them to lighten them.
Or, you can use them as a pattern, and make new ones.

Bummer! Next time, if you want to use the hidden pin, go ahead and peen it at the liners first. Then, relieve the scales to fit, and pivot the liners on the backspring pin to peen the other rivets.
