Re: Origin of the Kris switchblade
Well, like a lot of things with switchblades the story is a little mysterious I guess. Whoever came up with them it's a great idea in my opinion. It's really cool that you knew Sam personally, he sounds like an interesting guy and I'm sure had a lot of knowledge about knives and the knife business....

Re: Origin of the Kris switchblade
Well, the post wasn't about who invented the Kris blade, but who came up with the idea of the Kris blade switchblade. Regardless of who came up with the Italian stiletto version of the 50's, the photo I posted from the Newsletter shows a kris switchblade that is far older, according to the Newslett...

Re: Origin of the Kris switchblade
The "Switchblades of Italy" book credits the idea for the Kris blade as coming directly from Sam. Pasquale Patrizio's signature is on the copy of the patent in the back of the book however. The kris blade has been around for hundreds of years or longer, Sam Polk did not invent it. I stand behind wh...

Re: AKA automatic knife association?
AKA gave it a good go for 5-6 years putting out a nice switchblade publication, Bill gave it up. Unfortunately there are not enough people to support such a publication. It's a shame, but he was losing money on every issue the last year or so. Sharper Deal has put out a newsletter for a year now. I ...

Re: Swithblades of Italy Hardback book
As was stated in another thread here not long ago, the publisher stopped printing the book a couple of years ago with only half the original contracted amount actually being printed. This created some crazy pricing for awhile. This situation has been rectified, and hopefully the book will be availab...

Re: Books?
So, can somebody recommend good book(s) of (vintage) switchblades? For example "Switchblades of Italy" is sold for $100  in ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=160473326448&Category=378&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2 1/2 inch thick and I just only thouhgt... ......

Re: What's the deal with Fishtails?
Bobby C., Sorry if I came across as a bit gruff. Jerr is right in that I was thinking more along the lines of who designed the knife, made the tooling, assembled the knives etc. I do know that some of the old tooling was found among the old Mauro Maurio stuff several years ago and was used to remak...

Of course supporters of the Hillary are outraged, cause you know what? Many women will vote for the vagina. Just wait and see. I suspect you know it as well and it doesn't sit too well with ya. Sorry man, sucks to be a dem right now. History proves you WRONG - Remember Modale/Ferraro ????? IF McCai...

Re: Question about real or counterfit Hubertus
Thanks for the complement Gary, but I must add that my switchblade knowledge is very much in the minor leagues compared to some who contributed to this thread. Jim Maybe, but the old "Mayberry" common sense goes a long way! To throw a rational analysis into the thread is better than just making it ...

Re: Question about real or counterfit Hubertus
It's DeShivs, not Shivs. How much plainer can I be? THE KNIFE IS A FRIGGIN GENUINE HUBERTUS. Here is the deal-why don't you just offer it for sale for $100. Tell them Bill DeShivs guarantees it to be a genuine Hubertus. You won't be out any money Would someone here please give this guy $100 for a g...

Re: Info about a lever lock?
I think Bill DS is correct about the Virginia marking. I have seen many different style knives from the 60's and maybe early 70's that I know were different makers, but were marked this way. The Indiana Cutlery family had many of these knives in their collection, but I do not know for certain that t...

If it had been a switch I would have been groveling and begging to buy it! It's a great knife, though.

Re: Black Beauty Stiletto
Yes Bill, you jogged my memory. I seem to remember a post on one of the forums from at least a few years ago. Either the poster purchased a knife from the ad, or bought a knife from someone who did, and it had the M. Italy stamp. Jim The Black Beauty phenomon is an interesting one. With the ads run...
