I don't think it bothers knife collectors, I think it's citizens who have seen "Blackboard Jungle" and "The Godfather." There are alternatives.

If you like Mikov knives--and I do--you can order the model you want with a clip-point blade.

Catalana Knives and fishtails also come with clip-points.

It varies. Right now I'm torn between a ProTech and a TOPS C.A.T. fixed blade. But I also think my Mantis Tough Tony is a great knife, and I also own four GEC Whalers. I just make sure I'm always carrying a knife.
